Hindemith, Bloch, The Fine Arts Quartet - Quartet No. 3, Opus 22, Quartet No. 5. 2 versions. Beethoven - Fine Arts Quartet - Quartet In B Flat - Opus 135 And The Grosse Fugue Opus 133 ‎(LP, Album, Mono). Debussy, Ravel, The Fine Arts Quartet.

The Fine Arts Quartet is a chamber music ensemble founded in Chicago, United States in 1946 by Leonard Sorkin and George Sopkin. The Quartet has recorded over 200 works and has toured internationally for well over half a century, making it one of the longest enduring major string quartets. In its history, the Quartet has had two leaders: Leonard Sorkin, from 1946 to 1981, and Ralph Evans, from 1982 to the present.

Opus/Catalogue NumberOp. I-Catalogue NumberI-Cat. No. IPH 142. v'ts/Sec's. Quartet numbering in current complete recordings and some performances has been increased by one to incorporate the recently discovered string quartet n. in C, O. ; so one now sees this referred to as quartet n., where recordings and scores before a certain date or so call it quartet n. Hindemith wrote seven string quartets; Schott published all except for O. (String Quartet N. )

Sehr langsame Viertel. Op. 22 was the most frequently played Hindemith quartet by the original Amar Quartet and has generally been the one most firmly established in the repertoire. As a curious note, Op. 22 was once regarded as Hindemith's String Quartet No. 3 until an earlier quartet was unearthed bumping the sequence number of all subsequent quartets up by one. 22 comprises five movements though the first two movements are played without a pause (attacca), as are the fourth and fifth movements forming a composite intro-finale.
