For the 2007 album by Those Darn Accordions, see Squeeze Machine. For metaphorical "hug boxes" in media, see Echo chamber (media). As a young child, Grandin realized she would seek out deep pressure stimulation, but she felt over-stimulated when someone hugged or held her. The idea for the hug machine came to her during a visit to her aunt's Arizona ranch, where she noted the way cattle were confined in a squeeze chute for inoculation, and how some of the cattle immediately calmed down after pressure was administered. She realized that the deep pressure from the chute had a calming effect on.

There’s a man down on the corner with a squeezebox in his hands How anybody plays one, I’ll never understand But the rhythm always gets me and a crowd is gathered ‘round I’m working on my 2 step and I miss the bus downtown. I don’t blame it on myself, I don’t blame it on my friends No!

Squeeze Machine is the sixth and most recent studio album by American accordion band Those Darn Accordions, released on September 18, 2007 by Globe Records. Continuing in the musical direction set by their 2001 EP Amped, Squeeze Machine is arguably TDA's most overtly rock and pop-oriented studio album, featuring a more pronounced use of acoustic guitar accompanying the band's trademark accordions.

Stuffed with chuckle-worthy songs in a brain-melting mix of styles, Squeeze Machine's grab bag is practically bursting with original tunes, from the polka-fied blue-collar humor of "A Glass of Beer" (a raucous duet with Drew Carey), to a pair of straight-ahead squeezebox-fueled rockers ("This Song's Got Money Written All Over It" and "The Janitor Knows," an ode to every high school's unsung hero).

Those Darn Accordions, commonly abbreviated as TDA, are an American accordion band from San Francisco, California, originally formed in 1989 by Linda "Big Lou" Seekins. Boasting several accordionists whose numbers have fluctuated over the years and rounded out by a bassist and a drummer, Those Darn Accordions play a multi-genre mix of rock, pop and polka originals, characterized by the unusual use of effects and distortion on their accordions and the humorous lyrics of current frontman Paul Rogers. Since their formation, TDA have released six studio albums and one EP, with their most recent album Squeeze Machine having been released in 2007. As of 2014, the band continues to tour the United States, often performing as part of music festivals, fairs and Oktoberfest celebrations across the Pacific Northwest and Midwest.
