The Devil Wears Prada. Produced by Matt Goldman & Adam Dutkiewicz. Streets dawn with empty light Bullets clutter the sidewalk The gun trembles in a young man's hand The mother visits a grave site. The title of this track (and album) is an allusion to Romans 8:18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. This is rather paradoxical, considering the bone-chilling lyrics, instrumentals, and vocals of the song and album. Romans 8:18 seems to bring a sense of optimism, yet the makeup of the record evokes a strong sense of hopelessness

The Devil Wears Prada is an American Christian metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 2005. It consists of members Mike Hranica (vocals, additional guitar), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar, vocals), Kyle Sipress (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Andy Trick (bass). The band had maintained its original lineup until keyboardist James Baney left the band.

The Devil Wears Prada fans have been anticipating the follow up to Dead Throne since they first got a fleeting taste of it through Gloom, which the band began performing live this spring. A few refinements, studio time and 12 additional tracks later, Prada are set to unleash their new album 8:18 on September 17 via Roadrunner Records. But, we aren't going to make you wait until then to hear the whole thing.

Mike Hranica of the metalcore outfit The Devil Wears Prada was the guest on Full Metal Jackie’s radio show over the weekend. The frontman discussed the band’s new album, ‘8:18,’ their upcoming tour plans and the evolution of their group. If you missed Full Metal Jackie’s show, check out her full interview with Mike Hranica below: It's Full Metal Jackie bringing you two full hours of metal each and every week. On the show with us this week is The Devil Wears Prada singer Mike Hranica

8:18, the fifth studio album of the Metalcore band, The Devil Wears Prada. Like I did their last album, I dove right in and listened to the whole thing without stopping. I always liked this band and I was optimistic about this album. Sadly, this album is a "meh" for me. When I blasted through the album the first track was "Gloom", I noticed right away this band's utilization of synth and the intro to Gloom had an eerie feeling to it and I didn't know what to expect. War definitely demonstrates Mike's idea of sounding more emotional in his vocals. 8:18, the title track, is definitely a highlight. Kicks off with a bit of mellow instrumentals and Mike sounds as if he's shouting a poem as he's reading aloud, which I thought was actually pretty epic. After a minute, Jeremy jumps in and owns with his clean vocals.

  • This is actually limited to more than 200, Prada's merch guy informed me that it had actually been repressed once just for Vans Warped tour alone. Same with the Blue Tour Press. Both are more like 1/500 each. Still rare, just not as cool.

  • I just was looking through my collection on Discogs and was surprised to see people asking so much for this. I was never sure of the quantity pressed, but I do remember exactly when I bought it. It was Warped Tour 2014, they had the blue one displayed at the merch tent so I bought a copy expecting to get that. I was confused when I opened it and got the pink, but I kinda like it more than the blue one anyway. I do remember mention of breast cancer awareness at some point as well though.

  • Interesting. I'd add this to the pressing notes for this release.

  • Yeah, I actually bought this online after they posted on their Facebook that they were selling a "limited edition pink version" with some of the money going towards breast cancer or something? I have the worst memory, but a quick check of when I added this to my collection says it was 2014.
