The best Generation X album, it is essentially a greatest hits record. Tons of great tunes on it and really captures Billy Idol right before he was really going to step into the role as we know him now. Can't say enough good things about this album if your a fan of Punk or Idol, it is a must have for your collection. One person found this helpful. Valley of the Dolls- complete with female backing vocals on chorus, is a gem of a recording, worthy of the title track. Included on this re-release is the incredible B-Side from the title track's single, a Johnny Kidd and the Pirates cover, Shakin' All Over. Acquiring this track used to mean tracking down a rare 7" pressing. The price of the CD is worth it for this song alone. The other single off this album was the track, King Rocker- timely when released, tribute to the recently deceased Elvis.

Album by Generation X.

Valley of the Dolls is the second studio long-player by the British post-punk band Generation X, which was produced by Ian Hunter. Valley of the Dolls was recorded at Wessex Sound Studios in Islington in October 1978. The record's working title was 'Intercourse (Old Meets New)', which was superseded by a name taken from a 1966 novel. Ian Hunter was commissioned as the record's producer at Tony James's request, from having been a fan of his work with Mott the Hoople in the early 1970's.

Valley of the Dolls is a 1967 American drama film directed by Mark Robson, produced by Robson and David Weisbart, and starring Barbara Parkins, Patty Duke, Sharon Tate and Susan Hayward. It was based on Jacqueline Susann's 1966 novel of the same name. Three young women meet when they embark on their careers
