On the Road Again" is a song written and made famous by country music singer Willie Nelson. The song, about life on tour, came about when the executive producer of the film Honeysuckle Rose approached Nelson about writing the song for the film's soundtrack. On the Road Again" became Nelson's 9th Country & Western No. 1 hit overall (6th as a solo recording act) in November 1980, and became one of Nelson's most recognizable tunes

About On The Road Again. Willie Nelson starred as an aging rocker in the film Honeysuckle Rose. While on an airplane flight, he was asked to write a song about ‘being on the road’ for the film by director Jerry Schatzberg and executive producer Sydney Pollack, so he grabbed a barf bag and proceeded to write On The Road Again on it. The song topped the US Country Chart and crossed over to pop, peaking at in late 1980. The song won a Grammy the following year for Best Country Song. On The Road Again" Track Info. Written By Willie Nelson.

On his new album, Children of Paradise, Willie Nile adds his voice to the chorus of those alienated individuals, offering songs that speak specifically to the immigration imbroglio, the environmental crisis and the widening pall of intolerance that’s substituted discord for discourse, adding to the division that’s taken so many people to opposite extremes. I’m a true believer that music can change the world, whatever form it takes, Nile insists. In my case, it’s rock ’n’ roll. Music can lift our hearts. At age 70, he’s still the rebellious rocker he was when he relocated to Greenwich Village in the early ’70s and first began hanging at such habitual haunts as CBGBs and Kenny’s Castaways, the counterculture clubs that launched the punk movement by nurturing bands like Blondie, the Ramones, Television and the Talking Heads The squabbles kept him off the road and out of the studio for an extended period of time.

The album just brims with enthusiasm, anger, and hope. Nile says, I thought from the time I started putting this album together that it was going to be something special. It’s full of fire and passion and spirit, and it feels like real life to me. The songs come out of the box roaring and rocking, yet there are also songs of intimacy and tenderness. It’s go the power and promise of what I love best about rock n’ roll. The striking portraits on the cover and booklet deserve mention too. Nile says that these are regular people that live in his Greenwich Village neighborhood captured by the noted Italian photographer Cristina Arrigoni. Some are homeless, some are not. Nile says, They are on the outside fringes of society but they’re all the children of paradise, as are all of us. Cristina Arrigoni brings out a dignity in them that is beautiful, deep and moving.
